Mean Median Mode Range Task Cards

Using mean, median, mode, and range are great ways to find the average number of a given set of data. We use an average of data all the time. For example we use average when we compare weather each month. We base our weather conditions from the average of previous years. I use average all the time when I'm at Costco or Sams Club. They always have the average price of each individual item sold in the bundle. We see and use average all the time and just about everywhere we go.

If you are teaching about Mean, Median, Mode, and Range, I have a set of 30 task cards that students find the average from. These task cards can be used for centers, group work, mini-lessons, review, morning work, warm-up, or class work.

Mean Median Mode Range
These task cards can also be used to make graphs. Students can create a picture, bar, or line graph from the data represented on each card. There are recording sheets included in this pack to make graphs or to find the average from each task card.

Also included is a visual-aid/poster on "How-To" to find each mean, median, mode, and range. Use the posters to hang on a bulletin board or as a handout for students to keep in a math folder, math notebook, or homework folder for easy reference.

4 Kinds of Sentences Posters - Freebie

4 Kinds of Sentences have two versions on how they label the sentences. Younger students learn that sentences can be statements, questions, commands, and exclamations. By 4th grade, students learn that those kinds of sentences have a new name. They learn the words declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamation. I call them the "grown up" words for statements, questions, commands, and exclamations.

To help, here are two posters with the different 4 Kinds of Sentences. One poster shows the sentences of Statement, Command, Question, and Exclamation. The other poster shows the sentences of Declarative, Imperative, Interrogative, and Exclamatory. Click the picture to download both posters. Both posters come in a black and white copy too.

Hide Tom Turkey Freebie

Hide Tom Turkey is a fun homework assignment to use during Thanksgiving time. Students are given a cut-out turkey. They take the cut-out turkey home to disguise from the Thanksgiving dinner table. Students dress the turkey in a costume and then write about it's disguise. Students use scraps of material, buttons, paper, ribbon, etc. to dress the turkey in a costume. Click the pictures below to download this FREE homework assignment.

Students also have a writing assignment to describe the disguise. There are also 2 letters to send home depending on the grade level you teach. Also included are 2 writing papers to complete the writing assignment.

The students think of some unique costumes to dress their turkey. Some have disguised the turkey as Justin Bieber, Elvis, Cinderella, a scarecrow, Santa Clause, and Harry Potter. I have always been amazed at the creativity the students bring to this assignment. When all turkeys come back in their disguise or costume, I always hang them out in the hallway with their writing assignment next to it.
